Notes for Johann Adam Romig
European records from Ittlingen Lutheran, 6921 Ittlingen
Emigrated on Dragon, 1732, with wife and children. Nine children (4 girls, 5 boys) are named in Ittlingen church records, but in his memoir he states that they had 5 sons and 2 daughters, of whom 2 sons have died. Had two daughters already died before they emigrated? I have no further information on any of the daughters except Maria Margaretha. Wife Agnes Margaretha died soon after their arrival in Philadelphia, and he remarried Maria Ursula Wanner, with whom he had 2 sons and 3 daughters. He joined the Moravian church in 1762, prior to this having been a deacon in the Lutheran church. He suffered from asthma.
Norris book gives birthdate as 3 Feb rather than 13 Feb (maybe just the calendar difference?), and gives immigration date as 30 Sep 1732. This work lists all 9 children and indicates that three (two sons and a daughter) had died before immigration. It names the second wife as Warner rather than Wanner.
Kay Bradford says that Johann Adam and his son Frederick took the oath of allegiance to the King 30 Sep. 1732.
